Richard Edison Uy Yap, born on May 18, 1967, in Cebu City, Philippines, is a singer and actor. He graduated from Sacred Heart School in Cebu and De La Salle University for college. Initially aspiring to be a chef, he launched his music career by collaborating with Richard Poon on an album and a major concert. In 2013, Yap released his debut solo album Richard Yap, which included the single "Salamat". His acting career began in 2011 with ABS-CBN's My Binondo Girl. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Richard "Sir Chief" Lim in the daytime drama Be Careful with My Heart (2012-2014), which led to worldwide tours, concerts, and an album. Yap has also starred in various films and television series, including Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita, FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, and The Achy Breaky Hearts. In 2020, he signed a management contract with GMA Artist Center.
