Riccardo Minasi

A violinist and conductor specializing in the Baroque repertoire, Riccardo Minasi (born in Rome in 1978) trained with Jordi Savall in Le Concert des Nations, then worked with numerous orchestras including Il Concerto Italiano, Il Giardino Armonico and René Jacobs' Concerto Vocale. A teacher at the Palermo Conservatory and associate director of the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra in Finland, he founded the Musica Antiqua Roma ensemble in 2007, before being appointed consultant to the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. After several recordings of violin sonatas (Biber, Corelli, Handel, Vivaldi), he founded the orchestra Il Pomo d'Oro, which has enjoyed a string of successes, including the operas Tamerlano (Handel, 2013) and Catone in Utica (Vinci, 2015), and recitals with countertenors Max-Emanuel Cencic, Xavier Sabata and Franco Fagioli. He also collaborated on the success of mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato(Stella di Napoli, 2014) with the Orchestre et Choeur de l'Opéra de Lyon.
