Ricardo Vilas is a Brazilian musician born on August 30, 1949 in Rio de Janeiro. Vilas achieved professional recognition for a musical career that began after he founded the ensemble Momento Quatro at age 17 and won a music festival with the musician Edu Lobo. He achieved professional recognition for relocating to France in 1970 and forming the duo Teca e Ricardo with the musician Teca Calazans. Their musical career included performing at the Olympia in Paris as the opening act for the musician Claude Nougaro in 1974. Vilas achieved professional recognition for returning to Brazil in 1980 and serving as the musical director for the company TV Globo. His musical career included composing scores for telenovelas and serving as the musical director for the company TV Brasil. Vilas achieved professional recognition for the studio recording BEM BRASIL (1998) featuring the musician Chico Buarque and the studio recording Mandinga de amor (2001). His discography included the studio recording MPB Connections (2009) featuring collaborations with the musicians Joyce and Sally Nyolo.
