Rey Valera

Reynaldo Valera Guardiano, better known as Rey Valera, was born on March 4, 1954, in the Philippines. He began his music career as a member of Electric Hair Band before transitioning to a solo artist and songwriter. In 1977, he released his first single "Ako si Superman" under Vicor Records, which marked his breakthrough moment. Valera wrote numerous hit songs for various artists, including Sharon Cuneta's "Mr. D.J." and "Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko", both from the album DJ's Pet. His own albums, such as Walang Kapalit, Rey Valera’s Greatest Hits Vol 1 and Vol 2, achieved gold and platinum status. In 2009, he was inducted into the Philippines Eastwood City Walk of Fame. Valera also served as a judge on the singing contest segments "Tawag ng Tanghalan" (2016–2021) and Sing Galing! (2021).
