Clay Evans, born on June 23, 1925, in Brownsville, Tennessee, was an African American Baptist pastor and gospel singer. He graduated from Carver High School and later attended Chicago Baptist Institute for seminary education, Northern Seminary, and The University of Chicago Divinity School. Clay Evans founded the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago on September 10, 1950. His music career began in 1964, with his first musical project released in 1984 titled What He's Done For Me under Savoy Records. Throughout his career, he released 38 musical projects, including albums such as Things Are Going to Work Somehow (1986), He'll Be There (1988), and I'm Going Through (1993). Eleven of these albums charted on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. Clay Evans received a nomination for Best Gospel Album at the 1997 Soul Train Music Awards. He passed away on November 27, 2019.
