RBL Posse

RBL Posse is an American hip hop ensemble from San Francisco established in 1991. The group consists of the musician Christian Mathews, known professionally as Black C. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by gangsta rap. The ensemble was founded by Mathews and the musician Kyle Church, known professionally as Mr. Cee. Their recording career began with the single “Don't Give Me No Bammer” (1991) which reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. RBL Posse achieved professional recognition for the debut studio recording A Lesson To Be Learned (1992) which reached number 60 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Their discography included the studio recording Ruthless By Law (1994) which reached number 23 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number 197 on the Billboard 200 chart. Church died on January 1, 1996. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Big Beat. Their recording career included the studio recording An Eye For An Eye (1997) and the compilation recording Bootlegs & Bay Shit: The Resume (2000). RBL Posse achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Hostile Takeover (2001). The musician Ricky Herd, known professionally as Hitman, was a member of the group until his death on February 3, 2003.
