Ray Price

Noble Ray Price, born on January 12, 1926, near Perryville, Wood County, Texas, was an American country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He began his musical journey as a teenager, singing and playing guitar while attending North Texas Agricultural College. After serving in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, Ray Price started his radio career on KRBC's Hillbilly Circus in 1948. His first single, "Jealous Lies", was released by Bullet Records but did not chart. In the early 1950s, he formed the Cherokee Cowboys and achieved success with hits like "Talk to Your Heart" (1952) and "Release Me" (1954). He experimented with the Nashville sound in the 1960s, releasing notable albums such as Night Life (1963), which included the titular hit single. Ray Price's career spanned decades, with significant hits like "For the Good Times" (1970) and "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" (1973). He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996. He continued recording and touring into his 80s before passing away on December 16, 2013 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Notable posthumous releases include Beauty Is...The Final Sessions (2014) and Is This True? (2015).
