Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan, born राशिद खान on July 1, 1968 in Sahaswan, Badayun, Uttar Pradesh, India, was an Indian classical musician known for his contributions to the Hindustani tradition. He began his musical journey under the tutelage of his maternal grand-uncle, Ustad Nisar Hussain Khan. His first concert at age eleven marked the beginning of a prolific career. In 1980, he joined the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Calcutta, where he became a scholar musician by 1994. Rashid Khan's discography includes notable albums such as Morning Mantra (2003), Yearning (2006), and Yatra (2010). He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006, and the Padma Bhushan in 2022. He passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 55.
