Raquel Tavares

Raquel Filipa Tavares, born on January 11, 1985, in Portugal, is a Portuguese singer and songwriter known for her contributions to Fado music. Her early career included performing at the "Bacalhau de Molho," one of Lisbon's most famous Fado houses. In 2004, Tavares played a small part as a Fado singer in Mário Barroso's film O Milagre Segundo Salomé" (The Miracle According to Salomé). Her debut album Raquel Tavares was released in 2006, the same year she won the Amália Rodrigues Revelation Prize. In May 2008, her second album Bairro was released, followed by Raquel in 2016. She also participated in the Eurovision Dance Contest 2008 with João Tiago, placing eighth. In January 2020, she took a break from her professional career to pursue a life away from the stage.
