Rainky Wai

Rainky Wai, born Liu Jianhua on August 8, 1993, also known as Liu Jiali is a Hong Kong-based singer, model, and actress. Initially discovered at the age of 13 during a talent show where she showcased her singing abilities, Rainky Wai did not complete her middle school education and later pursued vocal training on her own. In 2007, she participated in the Yes! School Beauty and Beau contest. She ventured into the entertainment industry under the pseudonym Liu Jiali, entering the 2011 Miss Hong Kong pageant but only made it to the top 20. In 2012, she signed with Trendy Entertainment and began her career by hosting a youth culture segment on a mobile media platform and released her debut album Raining. Rainky Wai's media presence expanded as she starred in the travel show Go! Mexico. In 2014, due to poor management at Trendy Entertainment by celebrity Chen Baixiang, she and her colleague Di Yida switched to the newly founded Aodi Entertainment by Jian Wendi. That same year, she joined TVB under a standard artist contract. In 2016, she signed with Nicholas Tse's Straw Bear Films in Beijing, venturing into the mainland Chinese market, where she performed the theme song "Glimmer" for the TV drama A Speck of Dust. She also studied acting at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing. In 2017, she gained significant recognition for her performance of Lady Gaga's "Million Reasons" during a charity show, receiving praise from celebrities and netizens alike, and won a major music award for her single "BB." In 2019, Rainky Wai announced the termination of her contract with Aodi Entertainment through social media under her birth name Liu Jianhua and decided to pursue her career independently. She later rejoined TVB under a new management contract. Her notable singles include "Unforgettable" from 2015, "Cc" from 2017, "Without You" from 2018, and "Thriving in Adversity" released in 2025.
