Rafael Antonio Salazar Motos, known as Rafael Farina, was born on July 2, 1923, in Martinamor, Spain, and was a singer of copla and flamenco. He began his career at age six, singing in bars in Salamanca's Barrio Chino with his brother. In 1949, he gained recognition by participating in a tribute to Juanito Mojama and later joined Concha Piquerâs company for tours across Spain and America. He starred in seven films, including Café cantante (1951) alongside Imperio Argentina. He released the album El Rey Gitano in 1957. He then appeared in the film La copla andaluza (1959). Later, he released Cante de Fragua in 1972. He was noted for creating the flamenco style known as "copla flamenca." He passed away on November 21, 1995, in Madrid.
