Rachika Nayar is an Indian-American musician and composer born in State College, Pennsylvania. Raised by professors at Pennsylvania State University, she initially released music under Rachika S, debuting with Themes For A Film (2018), a rescoring of the soundtrack to the anime film Tekkonkinkreet. The following year, Nayar developed the soundtrack for and starred in the film So Pretty. Nayar's first full-length album as Rachika Nayar, Our Hands Against the Dusk, was released in 2021. This was followed by a collection of songs titled Fragments later that same year. Her second full-length album, Heaven Come Crashing, was released in 2022 through NNA Tapes and received critical acclaim, including being named Stereogum's Album of the Week and receiving Pitchfork's Best New Music designation. In April 2023, she released an expanded version of Fragments along with a new song titled "hawthorn".
