Pupo

Pupo, whose real name is Enzo Ghinazzi, is an Italian singer, songwriter, TV presenter and writer born on September 11, 1955 in Ponticino (Tuscany). He began his musical career in the mid-1970s, quickly making a name for himself with his romantic, accessible and popular style. His first major hit came in 1979 with the song "Gelato al cioccolato", co-written with Cristiano Malgioglio and now an Italian variety classic. In the same year, he scored another big hit with "Su di noi", which remains one of his signature songs and helped establish his popularity in Italy and abroad. In 1980, he took part in the Sanremo Festival for the first time with the song "Firenze Santa Maria Novella", then returned regularly to the competition, notably in 1983 with "Cieli azzurri", and above all in 2010 with "Italia amore mio", sung in trio with Emanuele Filiberto and Luca Canonici. Other notable songs include "Forse", "Lo devo solo a te", "Un amore grande" and "La storia di noi due". In addition to his musical career, Pupo became a media figure in Italy thanks to his roles as TV host, notably for game shows such as Affari tuoi (the Italian version of À prendre ou à laisser). He is also the author of several autobiographical books, in which he talks frankly about his personal life, his past excesses and his love of gambling. An artist of remarkable longevity spanning five decades, Pupo remains an icon of Italian popular music, blending sentimental ballads, pop lightness and an assumed closeness to the general public. He continues to record sporadically, as evidenced by the albums L'equilibrista (2004), Porno contro amore (2016) and Insieme (2025).
