Maria Christina, known as Princess Christina, was born on February 18, 1947, in Baarn, Netherlands. She was a singer and the youngest daughter of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld. Born visually impaired, Christina began her musical journey by studying classical music at the Ãcole de musique Vincent-dâIndy in Montreal. After completing her studies, she moved to New York and started teaching singing. Throughout her career, Christina was a long-term supporter of the Youth Music Foundation in the Netherlands and allowed her name to be used for the Prinses Christina Concours, an annual competition encouraging musical talents among children. She also worked extensively with sound and dance therapy, particularly focusing on sharing her knowledge with the blind community. Christina passed away on August 16, 2019.
