Principal Edwards Magic Theatre

Principal Edwards Magic Theatre was an English performance art collective founded in 1968 by students at the University of Exeter. Initially intending to produce an arts magazine, they began performing publicly in May 1968 and were signed to Dandelion Records. Their debut single, "Ballad (Of the Big Girl Now and a Mere Boy)", was released in 1969, followed by their first album, Soundtrack. The group toured extensively, opening for acts such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. In 1971, they released their second album, The Asmoto Running Band, produced by Nick Mason of Pink Floyd. Principal Edwards Magic Theatre disbanded in December 1971 due to internal tensions. Core members Root Cartwright, Belinda Bourquin, and David Jones then formed a more conventional rock band under the shortened name Principal Edwards. They released the album Round One in 1974 before disbanding later that year.
