Planningtorock

Janine Rostron, born 25 January 1972 in Bolton, United Kingdom, emerged as the English electronic musician and record producer known by the stage name Planningtorock, operating as a DJ and vocalist. Rostron launched the independent label Rostron Records in 2004, releasing the Eins EP and the compilation Carousel of Souls that included tracks from The Knife and The Soft Pink Truth, establishing a DIY presence. The breakthrough came with the 2006 signing to Chicks on Speed’s label, where the limited‑edition single "Changes" / "I Wanna Bite Ya" preceded the debut album Have It All (2006). In 2010, Rostron collaborated with The Knife and Mount Sims on the opera Tomorrow, In a Year, while touring with LCD Soundsystem on the Sound of Silver tour before signing to DFA Records; the second studio album W (2011) reached Number ten on the US Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart and featured a cover of Arthur Russell’s "Janine". Subsequent releases-All Love's Legal (2014), Powerhouse (2018), and the politically charged Gay Dreams Do Come True EP (2021)-continued to showcase Rostron’s experimental sonic palette and queer‑centric themes. Collaborations and remix work expanded their reach, including reworkings of Robyn’s "Ever Again", Lady Gaga’s "1000 Doves", and Moby’s "Heroes", alongside contributions to the 2021 Arca LP Kick IIII. In 2026, he released a new version of their 2011 single, "The One".
