Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub is an avant-garde pop and independent band from Germany founded in 1985. Singer and guitarist Phillip Boa is the head and namesake of the band. Their debut album Philister was released in 1985. Both this and its successor Aristocracie (1986) saw the band reach number 1 in the German indie charts. With their third album Copperfield, Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub entered the German album charts for the first time in 1988 at number 47. This marked the beginning of a successful period for the band. The album Hair climbed to number 26 in the charts in 1989. The single "Container Love" is also a minor hit for the group. Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub achieved their final breakthrough in 1993 with the album Boaphenia. The longplayer made it into the top 10 of the German album charts at number 10. The single "Love on Sale" becomes a hit. The following albums God (1994), She (1995), Lord Garbage (1998) and My Private War (2000) also regularly reach top positions in the German charts. The band regularly releases new albums. The 2014 album Bleach House made it into the top 10 of the German album charts for the first time at number 7. The other studio albums Fresco - A Collection of 12 New Songs (2016) and Earthly Powers (2018) also reached top positions in the charts. After a short creative break, Phillip Boa and The Voodooclub re-release the album Boaphenia in 2023. The new edition is released for the album's 30th anniversary, remixed and with previously unreleased songs. In May 2025, Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub release a revised version of the successful album Hair from 1989.
