Penny Flanagan

Penny Flanagan, born in 1970 in Australia, is a singer-songwriter and author. Her musical career began in 1989 as part of the folk-pop duo Club Hoy, which released the album Thursday's Fortune in 1991. Flanagan went solo soon after, debuting with the single "Lap It Up" from her first album Bravado, which reached Number 52 on Triple J Hottest 100 in 1994. The album was produced by Martin Armiger and featured Paul Hester of Crowded House on drums. In 1997, she contributed an offbeat cover of Kylie Minogue’s "Better the Devil You Know" to the soundtrack of the Australian film Dust Off the Wings. After Light Sleeper, Flanagan took a break from performing to focus on raising her three children.
