Merrill Beth Nisker, born 11â¯Novemberâ¯1968 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian electronic musician and songwriter who performs under the stage name Peaches. After early theatrical work and a teaching career, she emerged in the early 1990s with the folk trio Mermaidâ¯Cafe and released her first solo EP Fancypants Hoodlum in 1995, followed by the debut studio album Theâ¯Teachesâ¯ofâ¯Peaches in 2000 on KittyâYo, which included the single "Fuck the Pain Away". In 2003 she released Fatherfucker on XLâ¯/â¯KittyâYo, featuring the single "Kick It" with Iggyâ¯Pop, and in 2006 she followed with Impeachâ¯Myâ¯Bush on XL, adding the hit "Boys Wanna Be Her". The 2009 album Iâ¯Feelâ¯Cream saw collaborations with Simian Mobile Disco and Soulwax, while 2015âs Rub was produced by Vice Cooler and included guest appearances from Kimâ¯Gordon and Feist. No Lube So Rude was released in 2026 and featured the singles "Not in Your Mouth None of Your Business" and "No Lube So Rude." Peaches toured extensively, supporting acts such as Marilynâ¯Manson and Queensâ¯ofâ¯theâ¯Stoneâ¯Age, and performed at major festivals including Bigâ¯Dayâ¯Out. She received GLAAD Media Award nominations for Outstanding Music Artist in 2004 and 2008, and in 2010 won Electronic Artist of the Year at the Independent Music Awards. Her 2022 documentary Teachesâ¯ofâ¯Peaches premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, marking a significant cultural milestone in her career.
