Peaches

Merrill Beth Nisker, born 11 November 1968 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian electronic musician and songwriter who performs under the stage name Peaches. After early theatrical work and a teaching career, she emerged in the early 1990s with the folk trio Mermaid Cafe and released her first solo EP Fancypants Hoodlum in 1995, followed by the debut studio album The Teaches of Peaches in 2000 on Kitty‑Yo, which included the single "Fuck the Pain Away". In 2003 she released Fatherfucker on XL / Kitty‑Yo, featuring the single "Kick It" with Iggy Pop, and in 2006 she followed with Impeach My Bush on XL, adding the hit "Boys Wanna Be Her". The 2009 album I Feel Cream saw collaborations with Simian Mobile Disco and Soulwax, while 2015’s Rub was produced by Vice Cooler and included guest appearances from Kim Gordon and Feist. No Lube So Rude was released in 2026 and featured the singles "Not in Your Mouth None of Your Business" and "No Lube So Rude." Peaches toured extensively, supporting acts such as Marilyn Manson and Queens of the Stone Age, and performed at major festivals including Big Day Out. She received GLAAD Media Award nominations for Outstanding Music Artist in 2004 and 2008, and in 2010 won Electronic Artist of the Year at the Independent Music Awards. Her 2022 documentary Teaches of Peaches premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, marking a significant cultural milestone in her career.
