Peaches & Herb

Peaches & Herb, an American vocal duo from Washington, were formed in 1966 by Herbert Feemster, known as Herb Fame. Their breakthrough came that year when a St. Louis disc jockey played the B-side of their single "Let's Fall in Love", leading to successful singles and albums including "Close Your Eyes" and Love Is Strange. Initially comprising Herb Fame and Francine Edna "Peaches" Hurd Barker, the duo faced changes after two years due to touring challenges. Herb Fame briefly retired the act in 1970, but revived it in 1976 with Linda Greene as the new Peaches. This incarnation yielded significant hits, including "Shake Your Groove Thing" and "Reunited", which reached number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts in March 1979. The duo released several albums, notably 2 Hot! (1978) and Twice the Fire (1979), before retiring again in 1983. Herb Fame continued to revive the brand periodically. Notably, in 2001, Herb Fame, along with Linda Greene, took legal action against MVP Records for unpaid royalties, securing financial stability. In 2002, Miriamm Wright became the fifth Peaches. The duo's contributions have been recognised through various compilation albums such as The Best of Peaches & Herb: Love is Strange (1996), 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection : Best Of Peaches & Herb (2002), and 2009's Golden Duets.
