Born in Forbach, Moselle, on December 5, 1966, it didn't take long for Patricia Kaas, the most Germanic of French-speaking singers, to be adopted by audiences on an international scale, seduced by the blues singer's husky voice. Some voices start singing in early childhood, simply for pleasure, out of an unexplained urge. She enjoyed international success with "Mademoiselle chante le blues " in 1987, then tried to escape a stereotyped image on subsequent albums. Je Te Dis Vous (1992), Dans Ma Chair or Le Mot de Passe (1999), each presenting a different face while retaining that intrinsic melancholy. Her career took a more discreet turn the following decade. She nevertheless includes the albums Sexe Fort (2003) and Kabaret (2009), followed by the tribute Kaas Chante Piaf (2012). In 2016, she released her first album of original songs in thirteen years. Winner of six Victoires de la musique awards, Patricia Kaas was elevated to the rank of Officier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2012.
