Passion Fruit, a Dutch Eurodance group formed in Germany, were established in June 1999. The initial line-up included Blade (Manye Thompson), Dawn (Viola Schubbe), Pearl (Carla Sinclair), and MC Steve (Mario Zuber). Their debut hit single "The Rigga-Ding-Dong-Song" marked their breakthrough, reaching the top 20 charts in several European countries, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. The group's line-up shifted in January 2000 with Nathalie van het Ende, Debby St. Maarten, and María Serrano Serrano joining as members. They released notable singles such as "Wonderland", "Sun Fun Baby (Looky Looky)", and "Bongo Man" from 2000 to 2001, which charted in the top 40 on the German and Austrian singles charts. In November 2001, María Serrano Serrano and Nathalie van het Ende died in the crash of Crossair Flight 3597. Their final single "I'm Dreaming Of... A Winter Wonderland" was released posthumously nine days later, reaching number 56 on the Swiss singles charts and number 72 on the German singles charts. The royalties from this release were donated to the victims' families and survivors of the accident. Passion Fruit subsequently ceased operations.
