Pacifique

When they formed Pacifique in 1988, Stéphane Després and his brother Christophe, along with singer Cathy Lajous, were all "veterans" of the Toulouse pop-rock scene. Both brothers were members of the group Images, and Cathy Lajous released a single on Charles Talar's label. Her first single, "Sous les ailes des alizés", didn't do very well, despite some radio play. Pacifique left Carrère for Vogue and reached number four in the Top 50 in 1989 with "Quand tu serres mon corps". This gold record was followed in 1990 by "Sans un remords " and "Another Love in L.A.", both of which were critical successes. The album California failed to make a huge impact in 1991, and three years later its successor Anges ou Démons was even more subdued. This led to the breakup of Pacifique.
