Oro Solido

Raul Acosta is the founder and frontman of the New York‑based merengue group Oro Solido, a band that has achieved international recognition since its inception in 1993. After relocating to the United States at age nine, Acosta pursued music education at Kennedy’s Music World and began performing with local groups, eventually forming Oro Solido in 1994; the group’s self‑titled debut album Oro Solido followed the same year, establishing a steady release schedule with Internacional (1996), El Poder de New York (1997), 5to Aniversario (1999), and Best of the Best (2000). Notable tracks such as "Ta Cache", "La Tanguita Roja", and "El Baile del Beeper" propelled the group onto tropical radio charts and earned nominations and wins at Premios Estrella, Premios ACE, and Premios Lo Nuestro. Oro Solido performed at high‑profile venues—including five appearances at Madison Square Garden, the Universal City Amphitheater, and the Zócalo in Mexico City—and shared stages with artists like Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, and The Temptations, while also appearing on Fox 5 News New York and the Jerry Lewis Telethon. The group celebrated its 20th anniversary with tours across the United States, Central and South America.
