Omar Montes (June 22, 1988) is a Spanish singer and celebrity who rose to prominence thanks to numerous appearances on reality shows such as Gran Hermano VIP 6 and Supervivientes 2019. Born in the Madrid neighborhood of Carabanchel, Omar Montes first tried his luck as a professional boxer, eventually becoming the national welterweight boxing champion. In 2015, he decided to pursue a career in music and released his first single âMentiras,â which enjoyed little to no success at the time. A few years later, he became a celebrity overnight after featuring on the sixth season of the reality show Gran Hermano VIP in 2018. His newfound fame helped Omar Montes relaunch his music career as he landed collaborative tracks with several artists like Alba Dreid, Moncho Chavea, and Daviles de Novelda. In 2019, he won the reality show Supervivientes 2019 and scored his first Number 1 hit âAlocaoâ featuring Bad Gyal. That same year, Omar Montes also dropped his studio debut, La Vida Mártir, entering the Spanish Top 10. Subsequently, he became the most-streamed Spanish artist of 2020 and spent the most part of 2021 releasing collaborative singles such as âSoloâ with Ana Mena and Maffio, âPa TÃâ with Baby K, and âBeba Qué Quieres Que Hagaâ with JC el Diamante, which bowed at Number 30 on the Spanish charts. Over the next few years, Omar Montes pivoted into a more flamenco-forward lane with the album QuejÃos de un Maleante (2022), which later earned a Latin Grammy nomination in the Best Flamenco Album field (2023). In 2024 he followed with Lágrimas de un Maleante and kept pushing pop-flamenco crossovers on singles like âGoterasâ with JC Reyes, while also stacking high-profile features including Lola Ãndigo and Las Chuches. That same year, he received the Castillete de Oro from the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas, underlining his ongoing connection to flamenco tradition. In 2025 he stayed in release mode with singles such as âJolieâ and âNiña Mala.â
