Ohio Express, an American bubblegum pop band, were formed in Mansfield, Ohio, in 1967. The group's origins are complex; initially, Super K Productions used the name Ohio Express as a brand to release music made by various musicians and acts. The first record attributed to the band Ohio Express was the "Louie Louie"-inspired "Beg, Borrow & Steal", a Top 40 hit in the US and Canada in late 1967. This track had previously been released by the Rare Breed in early 1966. Following its later success, Super K Productions hired Sir Timothy & the Royals to promote the singles live under the name Ohio Express. The lineup included Dale Powers, Doug Grassel, Dean Kastran, Jim Pfahler, and Tim Corwin. In 1968, Joey Levine joined as a key contributor, with his demo version of "Yummy Yummy Yummy" becoming an international hit, peaking at number four in the US and selling over one million copies by August 1968. Ohio Express released several albums during their career, including Beg, Borrow & Steal (1967), Mercy (1969), and compilations like The Best Of The Ohio Express (2001) and Chewy, Chewy (2010). An iteration of the band still continues to perform on the legacy circuit.
