Nucleus Torn is a Swiss alternative metal and neofolk band founded in 1997 as a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Fredy Schnyder. The groupâs early discography includes the EP Silver in 2001, the demo Submission in 2003, and the EP Krähenkönigin in 2004. In 2006, the band released their first full-length album, Nihil, which marked a stylistic shift toward progressive rock and extreme metal. Nihil was the first part of a conceptual trilogy that continued with Knell in 2008 and concluded with Andromeda Awaiting in 2010. Andromeda Awaiting received high critical ratings, including a 5/5 from Metal Obs and 9/10 from Metalglory.de. In 2011, the band released Golden Age, which Schnyder described as a prequel to the trilogy. Nucleus Torn released the studio albums Street Lights Fail in 2014 and Neon Light Eternal in 2015. The group became inactive in 2015 following the release of the compilation Blowing Up the Entire World: Explosions 1997-2015.
