Nova y Jory emerged as a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo in 2003 after meeting during a local talent show. Their early collaboration produced the mixtape Por Encima and the single "Bien Loco" in 2009, which gained traction across Central and South America and led to a tour in Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, and Chile. In 2011, the duo released their sole studio album Mucha Calidad on 12â¯July, featuring tracks such as "Besame" and "No Se", and signed with Loud Music following the completion of their contract with Millones Records. The album peaked within the top 20 of the Billboard Tropical Albums chart, and the single "Bien Loco" entered the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay top 40. After an amicable split announced in Octoberâ¯2012, Fernando L. González and Fernando Luis Sierra Benitez pursued solo careers: Fernando L. González released El Subestimado in 2015, while Fernando Luis Sierra Benitez released Matando la Liga the same year, both achieving regional radio success. The duoâs brief but impactful presence remains noted in reggaeton history for their early crossâborder collaborations and chartâeligible releases.
