Nonchalant

Tanya Pointer, known professionally as Nonchalant, is an American rapper and singer born on October 18, 1970, in Washington, D.C. She began her career in the East Coast rap scene, gaining initial recognition with her debut single "5 O'Clock" released in February 1996. The track peaked at Number 24 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000 copies. It also reached Number 44 in the UK Singles Chart in June 1996. Nonchalant's debut album Until The Day was released in March 1996 under MCA Records. Although it received positive reviews, the album only reached Number 94 on the US Billboard 200. Following her debut, Nonchalant collaborated with other notable female rappers on the song "Keep On Pushin'" from the Dangerous Ground soundtrack in 1996. She released another single entitled "Take It There" in 1998 but was subsequently dropped by MCA after it failed to gain traction. Her last credited appearance was on the Half Baked soundtrack with the song "Flyin'". Nonchalant largely disappeared from the hip-hop circuit by 2001, resurfacing briefly as a DJ in 2013.
