Nocturnal Rites

Nocturnal Rites, a Swedish power metal band, was formed in 1990 in Umeå by Fredrik Mannberg on guitar and vocals, Tommy Eriksson on drums, and Nils Eriksson on bass. Initially known as Necronomic, the group changed its name to Nocturnal Rites within the same year. Their early demos showcased a death metal sound with growing melodic elements. The band's lineup stabilized in 1993 with the addition of Anders Zackrisson on vocals and Nils Norberg on guitar, leading to their debut album, In a Time of Blood and Fire (1995). Despite limited promotion, the album received positive reviews worldwide. Nocturnal Rites signed with Century Media Records in 1998 for the release of Tales of Mystery & Imagination, marking a significant breakthrough. The band continued to evolve with albums like The Sacred Talisman (1999), Afterlife (2000), and Shadowland (2002). After a decade-long hiatus, Nocturnal Rites returned with the album Phoenix in 2017.
