Nariaki Obukuro, born on 30 April 1991, is a Japanese singer, songwriter, producer, and CEO of Tokyo Recordings. He began his musical career in 2013 by forming the duo N.O.R.K. with Ray Kunimoto while they were university students, releasing the EP ASDR in 2014. After parting ways, Obukuro founded Tokyo Recordings and gained prominence when Hikaru Utada featured him on her song "Tomodachi" from the album Fantôme in 2016. Obukuro made his solo debut as a singer and songwriter under Sony Music's Epic Records label in 2018, with his first single "Lonely One" featuring Utada. His debut album Bunriha no Natsu followed in April 2018, showcasing his blend of R&B, PBR&B, electronic, and experimental tones. Subsequent albums include Piercing" (2019) and Strides (2021), with notable collaborations including tracks with artists like The fin., KEIJU, and Tohji. In 2023, Obukuro announced his fourth studio album ZATTO, which was released on January 15th, 2025. This ambitious work combines jazz, reggae, dub, and Latin influences with the beauty of the Japanese language, featuring renowned musicians from the London music scene. To support the new album, Obukuro announced a live tour after nearly three years.
