Naniwa Danshi

Japanese boy band Naniwa Danshi was formed in October 2018 by talent agency Johnny & Associates. The seven members include Daigo Nishihata and Ryusei Onishi—both previously members of Naniwa Ouji—plus Shunsuke Michieda, Kyohei Takahashi, Kento Nagao, Joichiro Fujiwara, and Kazuya Ohashi. Signing to J Storm Records, they released their debut single, “Ubu Love,” in November 2021. The single hit Number 1 in Japan and went triple platinum. Originally considered a sub-unit and part of a group of Kansai Johnny Jr. bands, which also included Ae! and Little Kansai, Naniwa Danshi was originally featured Johnny Jr. social media channel, they became so popular that they moved over to their own social media channel. The group then took on a successful tour before releasing their next single, “The Answer,” in 2022. The double platinum single was followed in July 2022 with their debut album, 1st Love, which rose to Number 1 on the Japanese Albums chart. The album included their previous singles plus their third hit “Diamond Smile.” The group kept up the momentum on their second album Pop Mall, which was released in 2023 and shot to the top of the Japanese charts, scoring a hat-trick with their third in June 2024. Alpha+ also landed the band a number one in Japan, propelled by the singles "Make Up Day," "Missing," and "I Wish."
