Najwa Latif

Najwa Latif – born Imratul Najwa binti Abdul Latif in batu Pahat, Johor Malaysia on May 23, 1995 – is a singer and songwriter who came to prominence with the release of her 2011 debut single “Cinta Muka Buku”. At the age of 14, she learned how to play the guitar and began writing songs with her sister, who wrote lyrics. Towards the end of 2010, she began uploading cover versions of then-current hits on social media. Within a few months, she was discovered online and signed to NAR Records in March, 2011. Najwa Latif’s debut single, “Cinta Muka Buku” was released in June 2011 and became a social media sensation. Her self-titled debut album was released in March 2012 and featured the singles “Carta Hati”, “Kosong”, and “I Love You”. In the midst of promoting the album, she also issued the non-album track “Ada Mu” as a single. Over the course of the next few years, she released a series of singles, while also continuing her education, won awards, and continued to perform in Malaysia. She also collaborated with other artists, appearing on tracks by SleeQ, iamNEET, and Altimet. Najwa Latif became an English lecturer at UNITAR International University. At the same time, she earned her master's degree in Teaching of English as a Second Language at University Malaya in Malaysia. In June 2020, she released the single “Tak Kisah Pun (It Doesn’t Matter)” featuring Akwa Arifin.
