Mummy Calls was a British pop rock and power pop band formed in 1982 in Leamington Spa. The group consisted of vocalist David Banks, keyboardist Alan Bint, drummer Paul Brook, bassist Andrew Hingley, and saxophonist Paul Howard. After signing with Geffen Records, the band released their self-titled debut album, Mummy Calls, in 1986. They achieved a breakthrough with the single "Beauty Has Her Way," which gained cult status after being featured on the soundtrack for the film The Lost Boys (1987). However, a shift in priorities at their record label stalled the group's commercial momentum. Mummy Calls disbanded in 1987 to secure a release from their contract. Following the breakup, David Banks joined Unicorn Jones and pursued a career as an author and solo artist. Paul Brook became a successful session drummer until his death in 2007, while Andrew Hingley worked in professional audio until his passing in 2023.
