Muleskinner was an American bluegrass supergroup active in the 1970s. The group included Peter Rowan, David Grisman, Clarence White, Richard Greene, Bill Keith, John Kahn, and John Guerin. Formed in 1973 when Richard Greene assembled a band for a television program with Bill Monroe, Muleskinner's breakthrough came when they performed solo due to technical issues. This led to a recording contract with Warner Bros., resulting in the release of their self-titled debut studio album Muleskinner in 1973. The band blended elements of jazz, country, and progressive bluegrass. Guitarist Clarence White was killed by a drunken driver shortly after the record's release. A live album recorded in 1973 was released in 1998 as Muleskinner Live: Original Television Soundtrack.
