Ms.OOJA, born on 28â¯Octoberâ¯1982 in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Japan, is a Jâpop singerâsongwriter whose career began while working in a clothing store and performing in Nagoyaâs club scene. After learning dance and singing, she debuted as an independent artist in Julyâ¯2006, then relocated to Nagoya to pursue music full time. Her breakthrough came with the single "Beâ¦" in 2011, which sold 15â¯000 copies and reached Numberâ¯20 on the Oricon weekly chart. In 2012 she released the studio album Heart, which debuted at Numberâ¯One on the daily Oricon chart, remained in the weekly top ten for 17 weeks, and marked her first chartâtopping album. The same year she issued Voice and Life, while Be⦠later earned doubleâplatinum certification in Aprilâ¯2016 for 500â¯000 legal downloads. Ms.OOJA signed with Universal Music Japan after a 2009 collaboration with the rap duo Elâ¯Latinoâ¯&â¯Ms.OOJA and the studio album Impact. Subsequent releases include My Way, the Nagashi No OOJA series, and the 2024 album Nagashi No OOJAâ¯3 Vintage Song Covers. Her discography spans 20 studio albums and numerous singles such as "Anataga Kimeta Kyounara" (2021) and "True" (2023. Her first Enka album, Ms.ENKA OOJA No Enka, was released on April 22, 2026.
