Mozzy

Mozzy is the alias of Timothy Cornell Patterson, a West Coast hip-hop heavyweight who previously performed under the stage name "Lil Tim." He was born in Sacramento, California, on June 24, 1987, and raised by his grandmother, a member of the Black Panther party. A rapper since the age of 16, he released his debut single, "U Ain't Really Like 'Dat," as Lil Tim in 2010. Within a year's time, he'd dropped the Lil Tim moniker and assumed a new alias, which he introduced with the albums Money Means Mozzy and Money Makin Mozzy in 2011. He remained a prolific member of California's hip-hop underground for years, recorded mixtapes like 2014's Free Mozzy (which he released while briefly incarcerated) and 2015's Yellow Tape Activities. He began attracting a wider audience with 2017's 1 Up Top Ahk, which charted at Number 68 on the US Billboard 200 and Number 36 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. 2018's Gangland Landlord fared similarly well, and an appearance on the platinum-selling soundtrack Black Panther: The Album found Mozzy topping the charts in several countries, including the US. He remained on the charts with Beyond Bulletproof and Occupational Hazard, both of which were released in 2020, then reached a career-high peak with 2021's Untreated Trauma, which climbed to Number 19 on the Billboard 200.
