Mouth & MacNeal

Mouth & MacNeal, a Dutch pop duo, was formed in 1971 when record producer Hans van Hemert brought together Willem Duyn, known as Big Mouth, and Sjoukje van't Spijker, known as Maggie MacNeal. Big Mouth had previously sung in several bands from the 1960s, including Speedway, while MacNeal released one solo single before their collaboration. Their first single, "Hey You Love" (1971), reached number 5 on the Dutch Top 40 chart. The duo's breakthrough came with the release of "How Do You Do" in December 1971, which topped the charts across Continental Europe and Scandinavia, peaked at number 32 in Australia, and reached number 8 in the United States. This success propelled their album Hey You Love / How Do You Do into the Billboard 200. In 1974, Mouth & MacNeal represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with "I See a Star," finishing third. The song became a UK Top 10 hit, peaking at number 8. Shortly after their success with "I See a Star", Mouth & MacNeal disbanded in December 1974. Big Mouth continued his career with Ingrid Kup as Big Mouth and Little Eve, while MacNeal resumed her solo career and represented the Netherlands again at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980. Willem Duyn died from a heart attack on December 4, 2004, at the age of 67.
