Morgan Kenney, known professionally as Mo Kenney, is a Canadian singer-songwriter born in 1990 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Kenney began playing guitar at age 11 and started writing songs earnestly after being grounded by their parents at 16. Their breakthrough came when noted Canadian rocker Joel Plaskett discovered them while visiting a recording studio at the Shambhala School in Halifax. Kenney released the self-titled debut album Mo Kenney (2012), produced by Plaskett and featuring two co-written tracks with him. The album earned multiple nominations and awards. Kenney won the SOCAN Songwriting Prize for the song "Sucker" in 2013. Kenney's subsequent albums include In My Dreams (2014), which won Pop Recording of the Year at the ECMA Awards, and The Details (2017). Notable performances include appearances at the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in 2012 and the Great Escape Festival in Brighton in 2013. Other notable album releases include Covers (2021) and From Nowhere (2024).
