minimumusik

minimumusik is a three-piece rock band from Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, formed in 2019 by vocalist/guitarist Kelly Yamanouchi. Inspired by bands like My Hair is Bad, Yamanouchi launched the group while still in high school, finding bandmates through his part-time job at local venue Joetsu EARTH. Drummer Kento Osaki joined early on, while bassist Yahiro Nabeshima, originally a venue staffer with no bass experience, was recruited just before an early gig. The group built a grassroots following with local live shows and demo CDs like Pendulum and Towa in 2020, which featured raw, emotionally driven lyrics and songs like “Towa” and “Gohan no Uta” that were later included in indie compilations. In 2022, they released their third demo EP Fuzzy, which earned the top spot on EggsChoice’s weekly and monthly indie rankings. The success led to their first national tour, and by 2023 they were opening for My Hair is Bad and performing at major festivals. In 2024, they joined the new label tomorrow off and released the single "Enzeru". On April 2, 2025, they dropped their first full-length album Hyouhon, a 12-track career retrospective.
