みみめめMIMI

Mimi Meme Mimi was formed in Japan in 2013 as a music unit comprising vocalist and lyricist Yuki Takao and illustrator Chamōi; the duo adopted the name Mimi Meme Mimi to signify a fusion of auditory and visual art. Their debut single, "Sentimental Love" (2013-08-14), served as the theme for the anime A Town Where You Live and introduced the unit's distinctive blend of Anison, J-pop, and pop music. In 2014, the group released the album Meikyū Sentimental (2014-08-13), followed by a series of singles—including "Candy Magic" (2015), "Cha Cha Cha" (2016), "Chocolate Kakumei" (2016), and "Harehare Fanfare" (2016)—each reinforcing their presence in the Japanese music scene. The unit performed live tours, notably the 2017 "Mimi Meme Mimi Live 2017 Bon Voyage!", and signed with an independent label that supported their visual and musical projects. On 18 July 2017, Yuki Takao announced her retirement from singing and voice acting, leading to the group's disbandment in September 2017; the final concert marked the end of the unit's activities. The group's work remains noted for its integration of illustration and music, and their releases continue to be referenced in discussions of early 2010s Anison and J-pop culture.
