Mike Campbell

Michael Wayne Campbell, born February 1, 1950, in Panama City, Florida, is an American guitarist and vocalist. At age 16, his mother bought him a Harmony acoustic guitar, sparking his musical journey. He formed the band Dead or Alive with friends before joining Tom Petty's Mudcrutch in 1972. After Mudcrutch disbanded, Campbell co-founded Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1976, contributing to hits like "Refugee" and "Runnin' Down a Dream". He co-produced several albums with Petty, including Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers. In 2018, he joined Fleetwood Mac for their world tour. Campbell was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 as part of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He has also worked on notable projects with Don Henley and Stevie Nicks. His solo band, the Dirty Knobs, released following albums: Wreckless Abandon (2020), External Combustion (2022), and Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits (2024).
