Mickey Taveras

Miguel Vinicio Almánzar Taveras, professionally known as Mickey Taveras, was born on September 29, 1970, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and began his musical journey as a child studying guitar, piano, harmony, and solfeggio, later forming rock and jazz groups in his teens. He first entered the Latin music scene as a vocalist and musical director in Wilfrido Vargas’ orchestra before launching his solo career in September 1995 with his debut album Lucharé, which featured hit tracks like “Quiéreme,” “A Pesar del Tiempo,” “Y Qué Me Pasa,” and “Me Gustas”—songs that earned him mass recognition, including gold and platinum sales in Colombia and a Best Performer award at Viña del Mar in 1996. In 1999, he released Más Romántico, featuring an acclaimed cover of Gianluca Grignani's “Mi Historia Entre Tus Dedos,” earning him a Lo Nuestro nomination. His 2003 album Sigo Siendo Romántico: Grandes Éxitos de la Bachata was nominated for a Latin Grammy. Continuing to evolve, Mickey Taveras released Te Esperaré in 2006, blending salsa, merengue, and bachata, followed by Pasado y Presente in 2013, which combined his romantic repertoire with pop and rock influences. After a period of fewer releases, he returned with new singles including “Francamente” (2021), “Si Pudiera Olvidarla” (2023), and “Hoy Ya Me Voy (En Vivo)” (2024), and electrified audiences with his live album Mickey Taveras (Live) in 2021.
