Michael Denner

One of the driving forces behind Denmark's black metal movement, Michael Denner is a fourth generation musician descended from a long line of talented players. Known for his trademark Gibson Flying V and hard-hitting guitar style Denner has been an anchor man in various well known Danish hard rock outfits, most notably Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Force of Evil and as partner in crime with fellow Danish axeman Hank Shermann in the duo Denner/Shermann. Denner's distinctive, overdriven riffs have featured on some of the most notable Nordic black metal classics. His record store, The Beat-Bop Record Shop in Copenhagen is a mecca for heavy metal fans and collectors of classic rock vinyl and a place where Danish hard rock fans can sometimes be served by one of their home-grown heroes. Mercyful Fate remains Denner's best known project and the guitarist appeared live at the Fillmore in San Fracisco alongside Metallica playing a Mercyful Fate medley. In 2016 Denner released the album Masters Of Evil with Hank Shermann.
