mic-alone is a three-member creative vocal group from Japan, active primarily in Fukushima and Tokyo. Affectionately known as âMacaronâ by fans, the group has built a reputation for its original harmony arrangements, dynamic live performances, and hands-on approach to music creation. Every member contributes to songwriting, composition, and vocal arrangement, resulting in a distinctive sound that blends contemporary pop, rich a cappella-inspired harmonies, and heartfelt storytelling. The group's origins trace back to 2021, when several solo singers who had each spent years âholding the microphone aloneâ came together to form a new collective. Shortly after their formation, mic-alone launched an ambitious social media project under the name âThe Guys Who Will Go Viral in 65 Days,â posting daily a cappella videos beginning in February 2021. Despite having little prior experience with harmony singing, the members quickly developed an impressive vocal chemistry that attracted widespread attention online and helped fuel their rapid rise. Led by producer, vocalist, songwriter, and composer Taiyo Sasayama alongside fellow members Toshiharu Ino and Shoma Sato, mic-alone has expanded its presence through television and radio appearances while cultivating a growing nationwide fanbase. In 2024, the group released its first nationally distributed album, which reached No. 3 on Japanâs Oricon Weekly Indies Chart. Their release âFreezeâ(2026) highlights the groupâs signature blend of polished vocal arrangements, emotional delivery, and contemporary pop sensibilities.
