Mezzerschmitt, a Norwegian black metal band, was formed in 2000 by Mayhem members Jan Axel Blomberg and Rune Eriksen, collaborating with Lars Sørensen from Red Harvest. Initially intending to create an industrial metal band, Mezzerschmitt's sound evolved towards black metal while retaining industrial elements. Their debut release was the EP Weltherrschaft, released in 2002. The band featured Herr Schmitt (Rune Eriksen) on vocals, guitars, and bass, Oberleutnant LS (Lars Sørensen) on keyboards, and Hauptman Hammer (Jan Axel Blomberg) on drums.
