Me Lost Me

Me Lost Me is the experimental art-pop and folk project of Newcastle-based musician and composer Jayne Dent, whose work inhabits a unique space between ancient tradition and forward-thinking sonic exploration. Drawing on a rich tapestry of influences—from traditional ballads and electronic music to ambient textures, noise, and improvisation—her music weaves compelling and imaginative worlds where storytelling, place, and sound converge. Since launching the Me Lost Me project in 2017, she has steadily built a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting and distinctive voices in experimental folk and electronic music. Her debut album Arcana (2018) introduced her genre-defying approach, blending layered vocal loops, field recordings, and synths to create eerie, intimate soundscapes. With her second release, The Good Noise (2020), she expanded her sonic palette and further embraced improvisation and site-responsive composition, reinforcing her instinct for using sound as a tool for exploration, both internal and external. Her 2023 album RPG marked a turning point in her creative practice. Inspired by role-playing games, fantasy storytelling, and imagined landscapes, the record transformed the songwriting process into a game of invention and world-building. The result was a surreal and vibrant body of work—equally pastoral and otherworldly—that invited listeners to step into a liminal space between reality and myth. RPG was praised for its originality and immersive qualities, a bold statement of artistic intent from a musician unafraid to follow her own path. In June 2025, Me Lost Me released her most emotionally resonant and sonically intricate work to date: This Material Moment.
