McGuinn, Clark & Hillman

McGuinn, Clark & Hillman were an American rock supergroup formed in 1977, consisting of Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, and Chris Hillman. All three members were former key players of the Byrds, a pioneering folk-rock band known for hits like "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Turn! Turn! Turn!". The group's formation was partly inspired by successful supergroups like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and the Eagles. The origins of McGuinn, Clark & Hillman can be traced back to a 1977 European tour where the three ex-Byrds performed as solo artists. An on-stage reunion occurred during two sold-out nights at London's Hammersmith Odeon, sparking interest in their collaborative efforts. McGuinn, Clark & Hillman released their self-titled debut album in 1979, which reached Number 39 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart. Their single "Don't You Write Her Off" peaked at Number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, Gene Clark departed from the group in late 1979. The duo of McGuinn & Hillman released a third album McGuinn & Hillman in late 1980 before disbanding in early 1981.
