Gláucio William da Silva Jerônimo—known professionally as MC GW—is a Brazilian funk artist and songwriter from São João de Meriti, Rio de Janeiro, born on January 22, 1992. He began his musical journey performing in samba groups during his adolescence before transitioning into funk proibidão. He first gained attention in 2013 with “Sarra Novinha no Grau,” followed by a series of breakout tracks in 2017 including “Ritmo Mexicano” and “Atura ou Surta,” which helped establish him in Rio’s underground funk scene. Over the 2020s, MC GW evolved his style by incorporating phonk, afrobeat, reggaeton, and pagode baiano, while expanding his reach through viral success on social media platforms. In 2023, he released the EP Tropicalmente, which elevated his profile further, as well as the single “Montagem – PR Funk,” which became the most-streamed Brazilian track abroad that year. He followed up in 2024 with the EP Gym Espanca Xota, continuing to experiment with high-energy beats and club-ready productions. Passaporte, a collaborative album featuring Australian DJ Don Dali, came out in 2025.
