Maurice Hines

Maurice Robert Hines Jr., born on December 13, 1943, in New York City, began his career as a tap dancer at age five under Henry LeTang's tutelage. He made his Broadway debut in The Girl in Pink Tights (1954) and later toured with his brother Gregory Hines. Maurice Robert Hines pursued a solo career, starring in national tours of Guys and Dolls. His Broadway credits include Eubie! (1978), Sophisticated Ladies (1981), and Uptown... It's Hot! (1986) for which he earned a Tony Award nomination. Hines' film appearances include The Cotton Club (1984). He released two albums: I've Never Been in Love Before (2001) and To Nat King Cole With Love (2006). Maurice Robert Hines passed away on December 29, 2023.
